You Are Right

You are right.
I don’t take you out for a walk.
I don’t hug you, I don’t hold your hand.
You are right.
I always go, you always stay.
I never hear what you have to say.
You are right.
I blame you for my pain,
I blame you for the rain.
I blame you for being hot.
And you blame me not.
I blame you for leaving me children at night.
Yes, you are right.
I blame you for not washing your pot.
Yet you blame me not.
I bring you darkness, you bring me light.
You are right.
You love me so much
And I’m out of touch.
You are always so kind
I’m out of my mind.
You are right.
I blamed you for betrayal.
You did not.
I betrayed you,
You did not.
I started a family with you,
You did not.
I am sorry.
You are right.
I’m leaving you now.
You are leaving me not.

After receiving some questions about this poem face to face, I'd better clarify some things. This poem is backwards. It's not about admitting, it's about letting go and accepting that some people, no matter how vicious, will never admit their faults and instead will claim that you're the malicious one. They won't mind to even contradict themselves in the same sentence. To large extent this poem is a compilation of accusations that I actually received. You could say it's a sarcastic poem... but it's not that either, it's simply a refusal to argue by saying, ok sure, you're right.
