Cuddle puddles, also known as group cuddles, are a wonderful way to experience the benefits of physical touch and social bonding. The practice of cuddle puddling involves a group of people lying down together in a warm, cozy space, often with blankets and pillows, and engaging in non-sexual physical affection, such as cuddling, hugging, and holding hands.
While some may view this practice as unconventional, there are many proven benefits of cuddle puddling that make it a valuable and important experience for individuals and communities. Here are just a few of the benefits of cuddle puddles.
First and foremost, cuddle puddles provide a wonderful opportunity for physical touch, which is essential for human wellness. In fact, research suggests that physical touch can reduce stress, lower blood pressure, and boost the immune system. Cuddling and other forms of physical touch also release hormones like oxytocin, which is known as the “cuddle hormone” and is associated with feelings of closeness and bonding.
In addition to physical benefits, cuddle puddles also provide a sense of social connection and intimacy. Engaging in physical contact with others can create feelings of trust, safety, and closeness, which are essential for healthy relationships. Cuddle puddles can help individuals develop and strengthen these important social bonds.
Moreover, taking part in a cuddle puddle can also improve mental health. Physical contact has been shown to reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, improve self-esteem, and promote feelings of happiness and relaxation. Furthermore, the sense of community and belonging that comes with group cuddling can improve emotional wellbeing and provide an excellent source of support and comfort.
Lastly, the benefits of cuddle puddles extend beyond individual experiences. Communities that engage in these practices can promote a culture of acceptance, non-judgment, and inclusivity. Cuddle puddles can promote a sense of trust and camaraderie among individuals, and provide a way to create deeper connections with others.
On top of all that, we will also be learning the art of consent. Consent workshops help to create a culture of healthy relationships and respect for boundaries. We will learn how to establish and respect boundaries, which is critical in any relationship. The workshop provides a safe space to discuss topics that some individuals may find difficult, such as saying no or discussing desires and boundaries. Attendees will gain the necessary skills and knowledge needed to build healthy relationships and avoid uncomfortable situations.
This is a beautiful opportunity to work on the courage to ask for what you want and to overcome and deal with rejection in a very safe way. For example, we will have time to practice asking random questions as well as saying no to all the questions without thinking. Saying no can be no easy task for many of us, perhaps because of fear of hurting the other person, or perhaps of missing out. We will all get very comfortable with saying no as well as hearing no.
On the other hand we will also get in touch with what we really want and what we might not be so comfortable with. One rule of thumb is if you’re not so sure, just say no, there’s no harm in that. Another good rule of thumb is you can always change your mind later. You can always ask for something you’ve just said no to and you can also say no to something you’ve just said yes to.
Would you like to learn to be more comfortable in any social interaction and have more healthy and fulfilling relationships, all the while feeling loved and accepted and charging up your oxytocin batteries?
